With a particular focus on the conservation of the critically endangered animals and habitat loss, we have been working with the Durrell Conservation Trust on their project to re-establish biodiversity on an island off Mauritius. We have been assisting them with the development of a Virtual Reality model depicting the entire island, its flora and fauna as it appears now, and (with ongoing conservation efforts) as we hope it will appear 20, 50, and 100 years into the future.
Rapid Prototyping
These investigations explore the availabilities and limitations of various processes of 'rapid‐prototyping', and the materials associated with those processes, and have included the development, via CAD, of differing yet geometrically precise and instantly printable forms, as well as explorations of the acceptable limits of deformation that those forms could embrace. Centred around the development of specific components (staircases, balustrades, AC grilles), the specific technologies employed to date include Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and CNC milling.
